She was still much too young. The world of fashion and aristocracy has to say goodbye to the designer and Princess Virginia von Fürstenberg. The noblewoman was found dead on May 10th in the luxury Hotel Palace in Meran (South Tyrol). According to Italian media reports, she fell from the fourth floor of the hotel and was found lifeless on the terrace of the house. The mother of five was only 48 years old.

External influence initially excluded

News of the death of the Genoa-born artist and fashion designer comes three months following she was reported missing. On February 18, her father, Sebastian Egon von Fürstenberg, went to the police headquarters in Marghera, Italy, to report his daughter’s disappearance. The 48-year-old left the house without telling anyone regarding it. After the news was reported in the press, on the followingnoon of February 21, the family reported that Virginia had returned home. Now the tragic news from Meran.

It is not known how the fatal fall happened. However, Italian news is already reporting that external influence in the case was initially ruled out. Prince Tassilo and Claire Jeanne Agnelli’s niece leaves behind five children.

Three marriages and five children

Virginia’s private life was a very difficult and troubled one: she had three marriages from which five children were born. Aged just 18, she married Baron Alexandre Csillaghy de Pacse’r before divorcing in 2003. During the relationship their children Miklos Tassilo Csillaghy and Guinevere were born. In 2002, Virginia became a mother for the third time, to Clara Bacco Dondi dall’Orologio from her relationship with Giovanni Bacco Dondi dall’Orologio. In 2004 followed her second marriage to Paco Polenghi, which produced two more children, Otto Leone Maria Polenghi and Santiago Polenghi. In October 2017, the princess said yes once more – this time to the descendant of an old Polish family, Janusz Gawronski: however, the relationship ended three years later.
