The consumer advice center warns of new fraud attempts targeting Amazon customers. Read here where to be careful.

As reported by the consumer advice center Amazon credit card customers currently respond more to phishing emails. This is how criminals try to get sensitive customer data. The message explains to the recipients that they need to match their cellphone number. This is a prerequisite for continuing to use the “Lbb amazon” app.

This guarantees increased security and smooth use. The reason given by the scammers is “increasing attacks on security gaps in some mobile phone providers”. As is usual in such phishing emails, the criminals also send a direct link. The “To the procedure” button should be used to enter your own number.

However, the message is an attempt at fraud and does not come from Amazon or from LBB Berlin, the bank that handles Amazon’s Visa credit cards.

This email is fairly easy to spot as a fraudulent attempt. It’s full of spelling and punctuation errors. A personal form of address for the customer is missing, as is a concluding salutation.

In addition, banks or Amazon customers do not usually ask them to verify personal and sensitive data in this way. The criminals did not bother to find out the name of the app for Amazon credit card customers from LBB beforehand. This is called “Amazon.de VISA card” and not “Lbb amazon”.

Customers who receive such an e-mail should move it unread to their spam folder.
