The Royals’ Venezuelan catcher Salvador Perez was late removed from the lineup for Friday’s game once morest the Brewers.
Perez’s vision began to blur Thursday, he was seen by a specialist and treated before the Royals traveled to Milwaukee. Blurred vision is something the Venezuelan has had to deal with before, going on the disabled list in 2020 with central serous chorioretinopathy of the left eye.
Last year, he underwent a procedure that allowed fluid to be drained from his left eye, before returning to the catcher’s office following a few days away.
He was originally slated to be Kansas City’s designated hitter on Friday, but vision problems affected even hitting.
However, manager Matt Quatraro said Perez might be available as early as Friday to pinch hit.
“It is a matter of time for it to be resolved,” said the leader. “It is nothing long-term, nor anything serious. It’s a matter of blurring away.”
