After Golden State’s early elimination once morest the Lakers tonight, many questions arise regarding the future of the Warriors dynasty. Among them, the future of Draymond Green. But the big mouth of the Dubs reassured the fans of the Dubs in a press conference.
Will Draymond Green still wear the Warriors jersey next season?
The question is legitimate when we know that Draymond has a player option for this summer, an option that might enable it to test the market. It is all the more legitimate since Green should be coveted by a lot of teams if he actually decides to be a free agent. And of course, no one has forgotten the episode from the right on Jordan Poole at the start of the season, which initially weakened Dray’s place within the team and boosted speculation regarding his future in the Bay.
So inevitably, at a press conference following the elimination of the Warriors that night, the file arrived on the table. And Draymond Green shared his intentions.
“Regarding my contract, of course I have a player option, everyone knows that. As I’ve been telling you for three years, I want to stay a Warrior for the rest of my life. I want to retire alongside the same guys I arrived with.”
This statement is in line with the latest rumors shared by some NBA insiders, such as Marc Stein et Zach Lowe (ESPN), who said there was a good chance that the magic trio Stephen Curry – Klay Thompson – Draymond Green would be back in the same jersey next season. It remains to be seen whether this will be through a new contract for Dray or his $27.5 million player option, Golden State already possessing a huge salary bill with the recent extensions of Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins.

Draymond Green’s future isn’t the only big issue that will characterize the Warriors’ offseason. There is also that of Bob Myers, dynasty architect, who is coming to the end of his contract and whose future in the San Francisco Bay area remains unclear for the moment. A departure from Myers would clearly be a blow to Golden State, and perhaps the first domino in a dying dynasty.
To all this, we must add potential discussions around an extension of Klay Thompson, the future of Jonathan Kuminga (almost not used in the Playoffs) but also that of Jordan Poole (horrible in the Playoffs) and Donte DiVincenzo (player option, potential free agent), without forgetting Steve Kerr who will arrive in the last year of contract next season.
As you can see, the offseason promises to be busy and potentially eventful for the Warriors. Even more with the arrival of the new CBA which should start in 2023-24 and the more and more salty addition that the Dubs will have to pay because of the luxury tax. Knowing all this, can the California franchise bounce back? Or is this the beginning of the end?
