In many Belgian cities, where the cost of living is generally high, rent expenses can absorb a substantial part of a person’s monthly income. With a median price of €765 for renting a studio, Brussels is the most affordable major European city. To give an example on a European scale, renting a studio in Brussels is 2.5 times cheaper than renting a studio in Amsterdam.

The rental market presents great disparities on the Belgian national territory. Between Liège et Bruxelles, the rent of a studio can thus go from simple to double. In April 2023, Bruxelles is the Belgian city with the highest rents: €948.8 on average for a studio. The average price for renting a studio exceeds the 800 € mark in 3 other cities: Thinking (841€), Antwerp (819€) or Louvain (814.1€). On the other side, Liège (590€), Charleroi (625€) et Used (€638.3) are the 3 Belgian cities where average rents are the lowest to date.
