The rental price landscape in Europe is constantly changing. Many economic factors can influence this. A study conducted by HelloSafe provides an overview of the state of rent prices in Belgium as of April 2023, examining the main trends in the Belgian housing market.
In many Belgian cities, where the cost of living is generally high, rent expenses can absorb a substantial part of a person’s monthly income. With a median price of €765 for renting a studio, Brussels is the most affordable major European city. To give an example on a European scale, renting a studio in Brussels is 2.5 times cheaper than renting a studio in Amsterdam.

The rental market presents great disparities on the Belgian national territory. Between Liège et Bruxelles, the rent of a studio can thus go from simple to double. In April 2023, Bruxelles is the Belgian city with the highest rents: €948.8 on average for a studio. The average price for renting a studio exceeds the 800 € mark in 3 other cities: Thinking (841€), Antwerp (819€) or Louvain (814.1€). On the other side, Liège (590€), Charleroi (625€) et Used (€638.3) are the 3 Belgian cities where average rents are the lowest to date.
