The third suspect involved in the fatal fight that took place last Friday in Zaventem was placed under an arrest warrant on Thursday, the Hal-Vilvoorde prosecutor’s office said on Friday.
On Friday May 5, a fight between two gangs on the platforms of Zaventem station led to the death of a young man hit by a train. Three people had ended up on the tracks during the clash, only one of the three managing to leave the track as the train approached. The deceased is a 22-year-old from Etterbeek, while a 16-year-old from Brussels was seriously injured. His vital prognosis is in the meantime no longer engaged. The third person has been identified. He is a 22-year-old from Molenbeek. He was charged with homicide and has been placed under an arrest warrant.
Another 21-year-old resident of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean was charged with intentional assault and battery. He was released on conditions by the investigating judge.
In the days following the incident, four other people were arrested. One of them had been able to dispose following her hearing. The other three had been charged with homicide, willful assault and battery once morest a minor with premeditation and resulting in serious mutilation. A 19-year-old man from Anderlecht had been placed under electronic surveillance and the other two, a 20-year-old man from Etterbeek and a 22-year-old man from Berchem-Sainte-Agathe, had been released on conditions. On Tuesday, the Hal-vilvorde prosecutor’s office had indicated that there were currently no longer sufficient indications of guilt towards these three young people and that they were no longer considered suspects for the fight on the tracks. The electronic monitoring and the conditions were therefore lifted.
