Ghana authorizes a new malaria vaccine. This vaccine developed by the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom might reduce under-five mortality, reports Graphic. Clinical trials have been carried out in the UK, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Mali and Tanzania but the results have not yet been published. The vaccine has a shelf life of 24 months when doses are stored between two and eight degrees. Malaria kills an average of 600,000 people a year. The World Health Organization has so far only authorized one vaccine, Mosquirix, which is around 30% effective.
