As is well known, vitamins are essential nutrients for the proper functioning of the body. These elements have the ability to help prevent and combat certain types of diseases. They are even ideal for having long and abundant eyelashes.

“The eyelashes are located on the outer face of the eyelids to fulfill their most important function: to protect the ocular structure from external agents. You have probably noticed that the slightest contact with the eyelashes generates an instantaneous blinking”, explains the digital platform Área Oftalmológica.

It is worth mentioning that the upper eyelid is the one with the most eyelashes, there are around 100 divided into three layers. If these hairs are pulled out or fall out for any reason, it takes seven to eight weeks to grow them.

It is also noteworthy, as he emphasized, that the eyelashes are formed during the development of the fetus in the eighth week of gestation. It is rare for a baby to be born without these hairs, which are responsible for protecting the eye structure.

In the same way, it is necessary to emphasize that the eyelashes grow in three specific phases; anagen, catagen and telogen. As in the other parts of the body, some conditions can form in the eyelashes and around them.

The most common are blepharitis, which inflames the edge of the eyelids; the stye, which is caused by an infection of a hair follicle; entropion, which occurs when the eyelid inverts inward and the eyelashes hit the cornea, among others.

Now, as mentioned, vitamins are essential substances for eyelashes to remain long and abundant. Two stand out from the rest for the benefits they bring to the hair in question. These are vitamin E and biotin, which belongs to the B group.

One ingredient “that helps them grow and swell is Vaseline, which contains vitamin E. Apply it every night and rinse the next day.”

In addition, “Biotin, a B-complex vitamin, also promotes growth and strength. You can consume it through vitamin supplements or incorporate it through some foods, ”says the website May Belline New York.

Although vitamins can be consumed through different foods of plant origin such as fruits, vegetables and legumes, their intake should be moderate, since an excess might be harmful to health. An excessive amount of vitamins in the body is called hypervitaminosis, which can cause dizziness, blurred vision, and decreased appetite.

On the other hand, the consumption of vitamins in capsules must be authorized by a doctor according to the health conditions of each person. In addition, it is noteworthy that the lack of these nutrients is considered avitaminosis, which can cause fatigue and weight loss.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that there are 13 essential vitamins to maintain a proper functioning of the body. According to Medline PlusUnited States National Library of Medicine, these are:

  • Vitamin A.
  • Vitamin C
