Russian tennis player lost to the 100th racket of the world at a tournament in Rome

Russian tennis player Varvara Gracheva failed to reach the second round of the WTA tournament in Rome.
In the first match, the 22-year-old Russian woman lost to Colombian Camila Osorio, the 100th racket of the world, with a score of 6:7 (4:7), 6:1, 6:7 (4:7).
Osorio’s next opponent will be Croatian Petra Martic (29th seed).

Grachev takes 46th place in the WTA rankings. On the account of the Russian woman there are no titles won under the auspices of the organization. In early March, she reached the final of the WTA tournament for the first time – in the decisive match in Austin, she lost to Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk.
On March 27, it became known that Gracheva had applied for French citizenship. Since 2016, a Russian woman has predominantly lived in France. She trains at the Elite Tennis Center in Cannes.
After that, Gracheva has already lost four out of five matches. She was able to overcome the first round only in the American Charleston in early April.
The tournament in Rome, which belongs to the WTA-1000 category, will end on May 21st. The prize fund of the competition is €3.57 million.
