“Controversial NHL Game: Vegas Golden Knights vs Edmonton Oilers – Unsightly Stick Incident and Altercations”

Frustration was felt late in the game for the Vegas Golden Knights, who were outscored 4-1 by the Edmonton Oilers to tie the game up in the series on Wednesday.

With 1 min 27 to go, Leon Draisaitl had just fired a shot towards an empty net which missed the target when Alex Pietrangelo rushed at him and served him an unsightly stick in the left arm.

Draisaitl fell to the ice and teammate Connor McDavid came to his defense.

The official awarded the Knights defenseman a game misconduct on the streak. It would not be surprising if this gesture earned him an additional sanction from the NHL Department of Security.

“I would like it to be reviewed by the league. I would like a suspension. The intent to injure mightn’t be clearer,” McDavid reacted following the game.

“I would like to see a suspension, it’s not a hockey game. But in the end, it’s not us who decide. »

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Nick Bjugstad felt it was a dirty and unnecessary move. For Pietrangelo, he may still have had on his heart the check from behind he suffered just before from Evander Kane.

More altercations followed in the final seconds as the tension escalated. Darnell Nurse and Nic Hague have also dropped the gloves.

Nurse received a penalty for being the instigator and might therefore be suspended for one game since it occurred in the last five minutes of play.

Oilers head coach Jay Woodcroft believes it was more of a fight between two willing players.

“It’s not like someone has been playing the turtle. I even think that it was Hague who took off his gloves first and threw the first punches, ”he argued.
