It’s been almost two weeks since Star Wars Jedi Survivor was released on PC and consoles and a first assessment is in order: this obviously concerns sales and they are visibly (very) good.

Almost two weeks ago, Electronic Arts offered Star Wars Jedi Survivor on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series to the delight of Star Wars fans. It must be said that the first episode published in 2019, Jedi Fallen Order had a very good critical success and another, commercial, impressive: more than ten million sales were already on the counter in May 2020.
Inevitably, we were eager to see the fallout from its sequel: for the moment, nWe don’t have any concrete sales figures yet, but rather data from a small study by GamesIndsutry.biz. And this highlights an undeniable consumer trend, which has been growing furiously for years.

It’s no secret: confinement has accelerated the dematerialized trend, which was already well underway in the video game industry. The progression is even dazzling, according to this little analysis of the start of Star Wars Jedi Survivor:
Although the physical game’s sales were down, with the digital data, Star Wars Jedi Survivor actually beat the Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order startup by more than 30%. It is thanks to the dematerialized sales which are almost twice as important as for Fallen Order.

In just three years, consumers have therefore chosen to turn mainly to downloading rather than to boxed purchases and the figures for everything dematerialized have truly exploded. We also recall that Star Wars Jedi Survivor is only released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series, platforms where digital is more highlighted than the traditional PS4 and Xbox One. It probably plays into that too.
