As a successor to Tobias Moretti in “Kommissar Rex” became the German actor Gedeon Burkhard (53) known in Vienna in the 1990s. He now lives in Berlin, but is now returning to the Austrian capital to be the narrator in “Augustin – Ein Wiener Singspiel” on Saturday evening (7.30 p.m. in the Theater Akzent). The KURIER met Gedeon Burkhard at rehearsals. The actor recently made headlines when he revealed he was in a polyamorous relationship with two women. The reactions to this were very different, but he still had the feeling that society had become more open.
“It’s hard to say, because I live in Berlin and it’s like a bubble. It’s definitely much more socially accepted there than in the rest of the country. It seems to concern a lot of people and there are a lot of people who questioning the societal norm of the relationship model.”
His two partners Ann-Britt Dittmar (33) and Sasha View (29) also contributed to the fact that he realized his project “The Screw Whisperer” on YouTube. In this do-it-yourself program with a wink, Burkhard does all kinds of repairs – shirtless.
“During Corona, I worked on a lot of manual work that had been pending for 10 or 15 years. At home I’m undressed a lot and I did DIY and my partners found it very amusing and watched me enthusiastically. Then at some point the idea came up , you might make fun of your own image.”
Because the actor was repeatedly cast for roles as a lover. “And at some point in every script there was a scene where I was supposed to take my shirt off,” he laughed.
However, there is another background. “There’s a lot of bare skin on social media, especially among women, which is always a source of criticism. People keep asking why only women and not men undress. So I thought you might do that as an older, white man , Tackle straight cis sacks a bit. But it’s not meant to be taken seriously and should be seen with a large dose of humor.”
And Burkhard also has a few other projects that he is currently working on. “I had an idea for a quiz show, which I’m currently conceptualizing and seeing if there is any interest in it. I’m in the process of developing a lot of things myself at the moment. I’m also writing a script, so I’m busy.”
