It’s never too late to celebrate…
One of the latest championship celebrations in history beckons the Bavarians – because they are real gentlemen!
Yesterday, the city of Munich announced the date for FC Bayern’s town hall championship celebration if Thomas Tuchel’s (49) team were in first place in the table following matchday 34 on May 27: As expected, one day later on Sunday, May 28 – but at 5:30 p.m.!
Nanu, why do Bayern only celebrate in the evening? In recent years, the town hall balcony party with the fans on Marienplatz has always taken place at midday or in the early followingnoon.
The reason: the men are waiting for the women!
Because the FC Bayern women (currently also first in the table) play their last game of the season once morest Potsdam at 2 p.m. on the Bayern campus on Sunday, the men don’t want to celebrate at the same time – they prefer to celebrate together followingwards!
City spokesman Matthias Kristlbauer: “As of now, the men and women are each in first place. The last game of the Bayern women will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m. on the Bayern campus. So they might become champions that day – then of course they might also celebrate on the town hall balcony.”
Ideally for Munich, both teams get the bowl and then let it rip together. The men and women celebrated the title together on the balcony in 2015.
And it would have something good for the men: They might celebrate even more exuberantly at the internal championship celebration in the evening following the last game in Cologne and then have a good night’s sleep on Sunday – in the last few years, some players still looked pretty battered at noon. Exact details of the celebration planning are of course not yet available due to superstition.
There would only be one small problem: Is the balcony big enough for both teams? Kristlbauer: “The aim is for both teams to show themselves together. How that will look in detail is still unclear.”
