Although the saga Battlefield drag a couple of deliveries, frankly, mediocre, the reputation of the franchise has not been diminished and the FPS is a fundamental part of the future of Electronic Arts. This was expressed, as part of a call with investors, Andrew Wilson, head publisher in back of Battlefield, FIFA and others.

Prompted by an investor’s question, Wilson spoke for the first time regarding the next installment in the series, and while he didn’t offer remotely specific details, he did say that Electronic Arts -and probably DICE– had assembled a top creative team for the future of the seriesand that everyone is excited regarding the progress made so far.

“I think we’ve put together a extraordinary creative leadership team. I had a call this morning with some of the leaders and they’re very upbeat regarding how it’s progressing. I think we have extraordinary confidence in that team and a extraordinary confidence in the progress they are making regarding the future of that franchise. As we continue to move through this process and when appropriate, we will share more regarding the future of Battlefield. But it is firmly rooted in the first pillar of our strategy of building games and experiences that engage and entertain massive online communities across all platforms, business models and geographies. and we believe that Battlefield It will be a significant part of our future.”

What will the next Battlefield be like?

What do we know regarding that creative team? Well, practically nothing, but enough, and it is that in December 2021 it was learned that EA had designated, nothing more and nothing less than Vince Zampella as the new head of the franchise Battlefield. Vince Zampella is the creator of Medal of Honor, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and founder of Respawn Entertainment. So, at first, things do indeed look better.

Already in the field of the unofficial, the informant Tom Henderson revealed, a long time ago, that DICE learned his lesson with Battlefield 2042 and, for the same reason, the new installment will not be futuristic and several of the changes made in said game will be reversed. Presumably gigantic maps, devoid of cover; the lighthearted and satirical tone of the game; the lack of destruction and even the player count will be in the study’s sights.
