Recently, the United States and China are competing to find spies.

The atmosphere is reviving the symptoms of the Cold War era, when individual freedom was infringed upon by the security logic of the massive state power.

Chinese National Security Agency agents in uniform storm into an American advisory firm in Suzhou.

It was emphasized that fair law enforcement was carried out through an open search and seizure accompanied by a broadcast camera.

The company is accused of digging up Chinese industrial secrets and selling them to foreign countries.

In March and April, American advisory firms in Beijing and Shanghai went through something similar.

A total of 17 Japanese people have been arrested by Chinese public security since the counterintelligence law went into effect in 2014.

In February of last year, it was belatedly known that a Chinese journalist was arrested during a meal with a Japanese diplomat.

On the 26th of last month, China passed an amendment to the Counterespionage Act, which greatly expanded the scope of espionage activities.

It was the US side that ignited the spy hunting competition first.

In 2020, then-President Trump restricted the entry of Chinese students to prevent the theft of industrial technology.

It also canceled the visa issuance of more than a thousand Chinese nationals suspected of being spies.

Recently, two Chinese secret police officers and 34 ‘comment unit’ agents in New York City were put on trial in droves.

The controversy over the information leakage of the Chinese SNS ‘TikTok’ led to a hearing in the US Congress.
