Despite economic uncertainty and the threat of a recession hanging like a sword of Damocles, this would not have dampened bookings on the Airbnb platform, which would even have reached highs for the first quarter of 2023.

“More guests are traveling on Airbnb than ever before,” CEO Brian Chesky said Tuesday, according to CNN Business. We saw our highest number of active reservations ever.”
The company’s revenues would have increased by 20% for the first months of 2023, pushing profits up to US$1.8 billion. Airbnb would have reported a net profit of US$117 million, compared to a net loss last year for the first months of 2022.
“During the quarter, we saw guests booking trips further in advance, supporting a strong backlog for the second quarter,” the CEO reportedly continued in a letter to shareholders.
Nonetheless, shares of Airbnb reportedly fell 10% on Tuesday night according to CNN Business, following the company announced a lower outlook for the current quarter.
