Another so-called ‘delivery crisis’ is happening once more, with hundreds of parcels piled up in front of the front door of a large apartment complex in Gyeonggi-do.
When the apartment side blocked the use of delivery vehicles on the ground for the safety of residents, the drivers stopped delivering to the door.
Reporter Cha Hyun-jin covered the scene.

In front of the main entrance of an apartment complex in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do.
Hundreds of parcels of different sizes and shapes line the streets.
When the apartment side blocked the use of the delivery vehicle on the ground, the drivers stopped delivery at the door and piled the parcel in front of the front door.

“There are a lot of baby items and stuff like this. Really light things like this are fine, but I really don’t know how to bring these big and heavy things…”
It was the last 1st that the ‘courier crisis’ started to happen in this apartment.
This is following the occupant’s representative side banned all vehicles except for fire trucks and police cars from driving on the ground for pedestrian safety reasons.
Delivery vehicles were instructed to use the underground parking lot without exception.
Courier drivers protested.
The height of the entrance to the parking lot of this apartment is 2.5m.
Considering that most delivery vehicles exceed 2.5M, it is difficult to even get into the parking lot.
You have no choice but to use a low-floor car with a low height.
However, drivers say that not only are the millions of won worth of renovation costs a burden, but also the lower ceiling height of the luggage compartment, which increases the risk of injury while working.

“When we stand upright (now kicking), our head doesn’t reach. The head doesn’t reach the tip. But now, when it gets lower, we have to lower our heads, put strain on our back, and in many ways, it’s very difficult now.”
However, the apartment management office is not backing down, saying that it was an agreement with the tenant representatives.

“The courier vehicles are not controlling the speed well anymore. (Just my speed) They don’t follow 20km per hour. If kids jump out of their bikes anytime and anywhere and hurt them, isn’t it a big accident…”
In 2018, the government stipulated that the height of the underground parking lot should be at least 2.7M for apartments where cars are not allowed on the ground.
However, this does not apply to apartments for which construction permits were granted prior to the enactment of the Act.
Previously, conflicts between residents and courier drivers broke out in apartment complexes such as Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, and Gangdong-gu, Seoul.
