The prosecutor of Sonora, Claudia Indira Contreras Cordovapresented his resignation this Tuesday both to the Congress of the State of Sonora, as well as to the governor Alfonso Durazo Montanowho in a press conference stated that he would invite her to continue being part of his government project.
“After sharing profound reflections, the state governor and yourselves, we have agreed that the time has come for a change in the ownership of this institution for the prosecution of justice and to start a new project,” the prosecutor wrote in a statement from press.
“At the State Prosecutor’s Office we have always privileged institutional coordination, in such a way that from the first day that Governor Alfonso Durazo arrived at the State Executive Power, we have carried out the operational coordination exercise daily through the morning meetings of the State Security Board”, read the statement.
He thanked and recognized the support provided by Durazo and by the state Congress, since his budgetary support, he said, made it possible to strengthen the law enforcementincreasing the workforce, institutional infrastructure, work tools and forensic laboratories, and thus comply with a justice model aimed at increasing results and consolidating the criminal justice model.
He also thanked organized civil society, the business community, members of the academy, feminist groups, search groups, members of professional associations and all the staff of this Justice Prosecutor’s Office.
