This is a useful book at a time when agriculture and food are in the daily news because of economic and geopolitical upheavals, first during the pandemic (Covid-19) then, now, because of the war in Ukraine. The book intends to “draw the main lessons for agriculture from a shock that is both health and economic”, by developing an analysis in seven sequences (chapters). It is well documented with recent statistics and the presentation of the measures taken in France, Europe and elsewhere in the world, while placing the dynamics at work in the historical context, going back to the movement to modernize agriculture in mid 20th centurye century and the globalization that took hold in the 1980s.
