Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy Launches Spider-Free Mode

If like Ron Wesley you’re scared to death of spiders, never fear: Game developer Hogwarts Legacy, Avalanche Software, thought of you! An update to the game’s accessibility features includes an arachnophobia mode.

In this version of the game, enemy spiders change their appearance, their howls are reduced or even removed, as well as the knockdown effects of small spiders. The corpses of these eight-legged critters also become invisible.

Players who have this mode enabled will instead see an enemy with red eyes, surrounded by floating roller skates.

These sliding accessories are a nod to the scene of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, where wizards and witches face their greatest fear through a dementor. Ron Wesley’s took the form of a spider, which he ridiculed by putting roller skates on his eight legs.

To enable arachnophobia mode, simply access the game’s accessibility settings.

However, the creators of the game do not remove all the spiders from Hogwarts Legacy. The Field Guide, for example, remains unchanged.

This update comes at the same time as the launch of the title on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles.

The game is already available on PC and Xbox Series X/S consoles, as well as the PlayStation 5 console since February. The launch for the Nintendo Switch console is scheduled for July 25.
