Arkane Studios has been the pride of France for years. With The Fatal Hearth Then Dark Messiah of Might and Magic in the 2000s, and especially with Dishonoredor Deathloopthe Lyon studio has been able to create quality immersive role-playing games, and even the Prey developed by its branch in Austin had seduced fans of the genre. Nevertheless, the last title of this American team does not conclude the test.

Redfall was launched at the very beginning of the month on PC and Xboxthis is an exclusive Microsoft who bought the publisher Bethesda, but development had started long before the contract was signed. Unfortunately, co-op vampire shooter didn’t get good ratingswith an average of 55/100 on Metacritic and “rather negative” ratings on Steam, it is moreover the game of Bethesda lowest rated on the platform of Valve.

On the player side, Redfall being included in the PC/Xbox Game Pass since its release, there were obviously not many of them to discover the title on Steam. According to SteamDB, the game reached 6,124 concurrent players on launch dayit’s already weak, but a week following the launch, it struggles to exceed a thousand players at the same time… Quite a failure, but let’s cross our fingers all the same so that the title attracts more people on the Game Pass.

Either way, it’s a disappointment from the side ofArkane Austin, Bethesda et Microsoft. Phil Spencer, director of Xboxaddressed the launch of Redfall In a podcast by Kinda Funnywhere he said:

There’s nothing harder for me than to disappoint the Xbox community, and just to see the community lose faith and be disappointed, I’m disappointed, I’m mad at myself.

The critical response was not what we wanted. I picked myself up a bit, what can we learn, what can we improve? What I will fight is what went wrong, there are clearly quality and execution things that we can do. But one thing I won’t do is go once morest the creative aspirations of our teams.

Creative freedom is fine, as long as the game launched manages to convince the players. On Steam, in addition to technical problems concerning buggy graphics, strawberry optimization or even dated artificial intelligence, the players especially point the finger at the very design of the game, not really inspired or even sometimes missed. Brief, Redfall is not recommended… Otherwise it is Dishonored who is the highest rated on Steamyou can find the Complete Collection To €62.99 on Gamesplanet.
