Midelt – The National Office for Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) successfully commissioned a new strategic 225 kV substation “Midelt” on Sunday.
Built as part of the evacuation of electricity production from the future Midelt Solar Power Plant, this new Substation is located regarding 25 km from the Rural Municipality of Zaida, in the Province of Midelt, and located regarding 1.5 km from the site of the future Midelt solar power plant, ONEE said in a statement on Monday.
With an overall investment of 65 million dirhams, this strategic structure was connected to the national electricity grid by the drawdown of the 225 kV Khenifra-Mibladen line over approximately 27 km, the statement said.
The same source indicates that the connection of this substation to the national electricity grid will be reinforced in September 2023 by the commissioning of two new Very High Voltage lines which will connect this substation to the El Ouali substation in the Fez region, for a investment of 476 million dirhams.
Other works for the development and reinforcement of the ONEE high-voltage network in this region are being carried out by the Office in order to meet the growing demand for electrical energy and contribute to improving the quality of service. offered to customers.
In order to ensure the integration of renewable energies into the national electricity grid under the best conditions, ONEE is continuing its pace of development and reinforcement of the electricity transmission network at the national level in order to transport electricity production to consumption centers.
