Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyonnais announced on Monday that club president Jean-Michel Aulas has left his position following more than three decades, with owner John Texture appointed as the new president and CEO.
And the French newspaper “L’Equipe” reported that Olas was supposed to continue in office for an additional three years, but the new American owner is looking forward to making radical changes in the club’s structure.
Lyon said that Olas will remain honorary president of the club, and confirmed that Textor will occupy the position of CEO temporarily until another person is contracted. The decision came during a meeting last Friday.
Lyon added: The Olympique Lyonnais group thanks Mr. Jean-Michel Aulas for his boundless commitment and dedication to Olympique Lyonnais over more than three decades, during which the club succeeded in winning more than 50 titles for the men’s and women’s teams.
He added: The priority of the new president, CEO and board of directors will be to strengthen the position of Olympique Lyonnais in world football in a manner consistent with our high ambitions throughout our rich history.
Lyon ranks seventh in the league before the last four rounds.
