Ski racer Ramona Siebenhofer announces resignation
Almost two months later, the decision has been made. “I’m looking forward to a new chapter in my life,” says Siebenhofer. “I have the privilege of turning my passion and hobby into a career. But now it’s time to say goodbye to the Ski World Cup, and that’s not goodbye, it’s goodbye. Already at the end of last season I realized that I was no longer risking everything to be at the top,” she said in a video on her Instagram account.
“Besides, I’m no longer willing to subordinate everything to skiing. That’s why today I’m saying “Bye, bye” and a big thank you to my family and my boyfriend, who made skiing possible for me. Thanks to all the sponsors, outfitters and partners who have supported me. Thanks to all colleagues, trainers and supervisors, as well as the entire ÖSV team, without whom this success would not have been possible,” the 31-year-old continued.
Ramona Siebenhofer celebrated her World Cup debut in December 2009. The highlight of her career was the 2018/19 season, in which she celebrated a double victory in the downhill from Cortina d’Ampezzo. A total of seven podium finishes are in her vita, all in the speed disciplines. At the 2023 World Championships in Méribel/Courchevel, she just missed her first medal. In the combination, she took fourth place in both disciplines.
