Already established in Auterive and Ramonville-Saint-Agne, the Dutch bodybuilding and fitness brand Basic Fit prepare a new opening in Lauragais. One of the premises in the Intermarché commercial area of Montgiscard should soon host one of its sports halls.
A work permit request was issued on March 21, 2023. Work should begin on June 26, indicates activethe company that will supervise the construction site, Voice of the South Lauragais.
Environ 1 000 m2 dedicated to sports
After a few months of work, the room should open in septemberconfirms for its part the communication department of the Basic-Fit group.
According to the statement of work, the room should be fitted out on an area of approximately 1 000 m2. It will include an area for doing cardio exercises, another for lifting weights or even a space dedicated to “spinning”, indoor cycling. A “relaxation” area of 60 m2 is also planned.
One of the main market players in France
Basic Fit owns almost 1,300 gyms in Europe and describes itself as “the largest fitness chain in Europe”. In France, its main competitors are Fitness Park and Keepcool, which bought the Neoness rooms in 2022.
The Dutch group has over 3.6 million members. In 2022, it reported revenue of nearly 800 million euros, up sharply from 2021, but its profits had plummeted from 150 to 3.7 million euros year on year. For 2023, Basic Fit aims a turnover of “at least one billion euros”.
