The Minister of Treasury and Finance of Jujuy, Carlos Sadir, was elected as governor of his province together with Alberto Bernis as vice, in a key election for the outgoing governor Gerardo Morales, who seeks to project himself at the national level following the victory in the elections of the Radical Civic Union (UCR) in his province. In this way, the second electoral round was inaugurated together with La Rioja and Misiones.
The candidate of the Frente Cambia Jujuy, a coalition that brought together leaders from the UCR and the PRO, among other parties, he is a man close to Morales and had the support of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta during his campaign. In February of this year he was announced by Morales as the head of the official list in the province. On that occasion, the president of the UCR described him as “one of the hardest-working and most committed officials” of his government team, which he remarked is “key” to the concept of “transformation in the province of Jujuy.”
The results of the Elections in Jujuy
“From December 10, he will receive the post and will deepen the most lively expression of the transforming project that we launched from Cambia Jujuy,” Morales emphasized during the launch of his candidate. Furthermore, he claimed that “with Carlos Sadir the province will be in good hands” and that “it is the continuity of the expression of transformation of Jujuy”.
Carlos Sadir graduated in Economics with a degree in Public Accounting from the National University of Jujuy (UNJu). In the official’s own words: “I grew up, educated and developed professionally in the city of San Salvador de Jujuy”. Since his student days he has been a radical militant. Currently, in addition to his political career, he is the owner of a gastronomic enterprise in the interior of the province.
Throughout his political career he passed through various levels of public service. In this sense, his career began in 1987 in the Provincial Revenue Department. Later, he was Secretary of the Treasury and Secretary of Government of the Municipality of San Salvador de Jujuy. In the provincial capital he continued his public function in his capacity as councilor, to which was added the presidency for several years of the Deliberative Council.
Before his appointment as Minister, he served as Secretary of Finance for the province of Jujuy. In June 2016, Morales was sworn in to Sadir to serve as head of the Treasury and Finance portfolio.
Sadir is one of the most loyal men in the Morales government project. During his launch, the outgoing governor recognized in his candidate an official who “rowed and pushed a lot, he is one of the most hardworking, with the greatest commitment, without schedules and doing what he must do to motorize the transformation of Jujuy.” “He is not a person to lead anyone or anything, but he has the firmness to lead and make decisions no matter how difficult they are in a government effort,” he concluded.
