DeBoer delivered a stirring plea a few hours before the third game of the series between his troupe and the Kraken in Seattle.
“I would like to take the time to underline how heartbroken we are,” said the 54-year-old, whose comments were picked up by The Athletic. It happened very close to home, of course. It’s just tragic.
“Honestly, when you hear that one of the victims is only five years old, you get tired of hearing the same refrain. When there were the shootings in Sandy Hook, Parkland and Nashville, we might compartmentalize and focus on our task. But when it happens in your backyard, you understand the horror of the thing.
The Municipality of Allen is only regarding forty minutes from downtown Dallas. The shooter killed eight people before being shot dead by a police officer in a shopping mall.
“It’s hard to think regarding hockey games when you wake up and that’s the first news you read. We often shop here. I am at a loss for words. Someone has to find answers.”
Le Kraken sympathise
The Stars’ second-round opponent offered his condolences on Twitter on Sunday morning.
“We offer our condolences to the community of Allen, particularly the families and friends of those affected by this senseless act of violence,” the Kraken wrote.
