At the international exhibition Computex 2023, which will be held at the end of May, Streacom will show a computer case that can dissipate up to 600 watts of thermal energy from components without the use of active cooling systems.

Unfortunately, there are almost no desktop gaming PCs that are not equipped with active cooling systems. Typically, such systems are custom-made and use expensive components. Streacom wants to change that by making passively cooled gaming systems more common. Streacom will show at the upcoming show the new SG10 computer case, developed in collaboration with Calyos, a company that specializes in loop heat pipes (LHP or LHP).

In fact, back in 2017, Calyos unveiled a prototype NSG S0 chassis capable of dissipating 600W of thermal energy. With the help of crowdfunding, the company tried to bring it to the market, but it did not succeed. In 2020, Streacom joined the project. However, the prototype presented by Calyos never went on sale. At the heart of the SG10 are the developments of NSG S0, and this time both manufacturers are firmly convinced that they will be able to bring the novelty to the consumer market.

Interestingly, in 2018, a similar solution appeared using self-developed loop heat pipes from the Russian company Terkon-KTT. The company even made several prototypes of the PROJECT MARS gaming PCs with Invasion Labs. However, as in the case of Calyis NSG S0, this solution did not really become widespread either.

At the moment, almost nothing is known regarding the new SG10 case. However, it is assumed that the general principle of its operation is no different from other cases designed to build fanless PCs. It lies in the fact that the chassis of the case itself acts as a massive radiator. This approach involves establishing a direct connection between the heat-generating chips and the case. It is very difficult and this is where the experience of Calyos can help.

For example, AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D or Intel Core i9-13900K, as well as the GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card, will fit into 600 W. Such a system will provide very impressive performance in games. Usually, for such systems, heat-conducting pipes and radiators are made to order for a certain set of PC components. However, given that the SG10 will be aimed at the mass consumer, this will be quite difficult to do with the many models of video cards on the market.
