On Tuesday, the alma mater launched a new designation procedure. This call for candidates follows the refusal of the Council of State to appoint the Canadian candidate proposed by Unige.

The University of Geneva (UNIGE) is still looking of a new rector. After the refusal of the Council of State to name the person designated by the University last January, the alma mater put the work back on the job. Last week, the Assembly announced the opening of a new procedure designation. “The call for applications will be officially published on May 2 and open until June 30, 2023,” she informed.
More transparency
Following the abortive appointment of Canadian Eric Bauce, the selection criteria have been clarified and the procedure has been reviewed, relay several regional media. There are a few new things to note. The final selection phase will involve a public presentation. The finalists will participate in a public session to present their program. Objective: “to ensure that this new procedure takes place in a calm and transparent manner.”

Future candidates will also have to get to know Switzerland and have an “ability to fit into the political, cultural, economic and social context of Switzerland and Geneva”, can we read in online offer. THE female candidates are also more encouraged. A first selection of candidates will be made in September.
