Kochi: Actress Sheela says that the hero is worth in movies. Whether in Hollywood or Bollywood, men are valued. It cannot be changed. Sheela said that such a heroine should come following 25 years to change. But young actress Gauri G Kishan disagreed with Sheela’s opinion. Demanding equal pay is for work done. Gauri Ji Kishan said that he does not understand why this discrimination. Both of them responded in an interview given to MediaOne.
“Hero will have lakhs of fans. To see their success. Hero has value whether in Hollywood or Bollywood. Men have value in our industry. It cannot be changed. If we want to change it, such a heroine should come following 25 years” – Sheela said. Sheela’s response was when she was asked if she had an opinion on the need for equal pay for actors. Actress Gauri G Kishan responded that the situation should change.
“Patriarchy is strong not only in cinema but also in homes. It’s not that there is no change. But the change is happening very slowly. I don’t know the market value. Equal pay is the work we do. I don’t understand why this discrimination” – Gauri G Kishan said.
Sheela’s reply was like this – “Mohanlal and Mammootty have been heroes for so many years. How many heroines have they acted with? Where are all those heroines? They are all gone. They got married, got kids, got fat, become mothers. Women have many things called family. For that we have to make some sacrifices. Or else? How will the world survive?”
But Gauri Ji Kishan responded that the situation is changing now – “The word comeback is very problematic. Is it only for women to come back? Marriage is a choice. Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have not taken a break with marriage. We should also be more open-minded”.
