Citizens recently received a message on their phones from the Ministry of Finance inviting them to quickly benefit from a final reduction in fines, by paying the costs issued before 5/16/2023.
What is remarkable is that the ministry did not explain in its letter to the citizens the nature of the costs they must pay, but its sources made it clear to“Lebanon 24” This message is related to decisions issued during the month of April, which are as follows:
1- The first decision: The deadline for submitting the periodic declaration of value-added tax for the first quarter of the year 2023 is extended, until 05/15/2023 inclusive, and the payment of the value-added tax resulting from it, and the submission of refund requests that are submitted during the deadline for the declaration of this chapter.
2- The second decision: It is extended until 05/15/2023, inclusive, the deadline for submitting permits for the financial stamp fee related to institutions subject to periodic payment (public institutions, municipalities, water projects of public benefit, guarantee institutions, and privileged companies) for the first semester 2023, and for paying the fee related to these permits.
3- The third decision: The deadline for submitting data for the first quarter of the salary and wages tax of the year 2023 and paying the related tax is extended until 05/15/2023 inclusive.
According to the sources, the message from the Ministry of Finance was also linked to a statement issued last April calling in the ministry to the taxpayers to pay all the reduced taxes, fees and fines due on them before 5/16/2023, in order to avoid having to pay them without any reduction in the fines incurred.
The reasons for the decision stated:Whereas, Article 22 of the General Budget Law for the year 2022 granted those charged with taxes and fees a deadline of six months, ending on May 15, 2023, to pay all taxes and fees incurred by them on a date prior to its publication, with a reduction of:
– 100% of the fines resulting from violations that occurred during the period from 10/18/2019 to 11/15/2022.
– 90% of the fines resulting from violations that occurred prior to 10/18/2019, and since that article also stipulated that if those reduced taxes, fees and fines are not paid within the deadline that ends on 5/15/2023, the taxpayers must pay them With full fines and no settlement can be made.
