Sometimes our phones are uncooperative in installing new apps. So here’s how to get out of it, depending on your problem.
Who says smartphone says applications. Whether it’s banking applications, calendars, music, messaging of all kinds or video games, our phones are full of them. Clearly, one and the other are now inseparable. But what’s more frustrating than not being able to install a new app? While iPhone users are relatively untouched by this prospect, Android regulars know it can be a fairly common problem.
Usually the problem can be solved quite simply. Either by restarting his device, or by plugging it into his charger. Indeed, it may happen that your phone is recalcitrant due to a battery that is a little too weak. If, despite everything, the problem persists, then the reason for the blockage is elsewhere.
Bad connection
It seems obvious, but downloading an app requires a decent internet connection. Power and, above all, stability are required. This is also why most smartphones refuse, by default, to download applications if they are not connected to a Wi-Fi network. We cannot repeat it enough: large downloads consume a lot of data , in addition to draining your battery.
So start there, by checking that you have access to a Wi-Fi connection. If you don’t and your plan allows you this kind of madness, you can always use your cellular data. For this, it is necessary to change your download settings directly in the Play Store.
Go to settings by tapping on your profile picture and go to “Network Preferences”. Then go to “App download preferences”, then “Auto-update apps” and select “Any network”. That’s it.
Lack of storage space
It’s a great classic of the smartphone era. Users accumulate applications, and other large files, and end up running out of available space. The easiest way to be sure is to go to your phone’s settings and check the “storage”. This allows to check the remaining space of the device and to analyze the content present.
If it turns out that the phone is indeed running out of space, then it’s time to clean up. Whether it’s deleting unused apps or transferring your media files to a computer. Photos and videos do not weigh very heavily on the scale of a few dozen files, but it is another matter if the smartphone hosts several hundred or even several thousand.
Outdated operating system
Keeping your operating system up to date is essential for the proper functioning of your smartphone. By ignoring software updates, you not only risk penalizing your phone, but also losing the ability to enjoy certain apps.
To check that your device is up to date, go to the phone’s advanced settings. Then tap “System Update” to search. Depending on what is displayed, you will know whether or not your version of Android needs to be updated.
Note that your smartphone may no longer be eligible for software updates. Manufacturers regularly abandon their oldest models to focus on the most recent. If this is the case for your device, unfortunately there is nothing you can do, except change the phone.
Other causes
If none of the solutions solve your problem, the problem may not be with your device. For example, it might be a Play Store crash. In these cases, try to relaunch the application and check its updates by going to the settings. The Play Store may be out of date due to lack of space on your device, in which case it’s up to you to delete a few apps.
Finally, the problem may be with the application you want to download. It may be experiencing difficulties or is simply corrupted. To be sure, contact the developers directly.
