Manchester City’s match once morest Leeds United, on Saturday, witnessed an incident that did not happen much in the past, when coach Pep Guardiola appeared pouring out his anger on the team’s top scorer, Erling Haaland.
The incident occurred in the 84th minute of the match, immediately following Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan missed a penalty kick, and the result at that time indicated that City advanced (2-0).
It is known that Haaland is the first penalty taker in the team, but he decided in a noble initiative to give the opportunity to his colleague Gundogan, who scored both of his team’s goals, in order to score a hat-trick.
But when Gundogan failed to translate it into a goal, the cameras focused on Guardiola, who seemed angry as he directed his words to Halland, saying, “You should have paid it.”
City’s situation almost got worse when Leeds United managed to reduce the difference by scoring a goal moments following missing the penalty kick, but nevertheless the result remained the same with City’s victory (2-1).
With this result, Manchester City took an important step towards the English Premier League title, following raising its score to 82 points from 34 matches, four points ahead of Arsenal, who played the same number of matches.
