“Ferrari and AlphaTauri Introduce New Features for Miami Grand Prix: Latest Updates on Single-Seaters”

Many teams are waiting for Imola to introduce major changes to their single-seater, but Ferrari and AlphaTauri still have some new features in Miami.

For the Miami Grand Prix, Ferrari uses a new floor that marks the start of a series of evolutions that will appear over the next races.

When the floor of a single-seater changes, there are always aspects that are impossible to quantify since the majority of the changes are made in areas that cannot be observed, especially under it. We know, however, thanks to the descriptive document that each team must now fill in before the Grands Prix, that the Scuderia has modified the front and central areas of its floor, while also changing the geometry of the diffuser.

It also looks like the floor edge has been optimized as part of this redesign. The upward-curling volute section, and the one that tapers toward the rear tire, are both different from before in Miami.

Ferrari has also returned to its rear wing arrangement with a single center pillar and shortened top section, having last week used a Baku low downforce setup.

Changes at AlphaTauri

AlphaTauri also has some changes on its AT04 this weekend. There are modified profiles in the outer part of the front wing, intended to work in tandem with the two new appendages mounted on the endplate just above (red arrows below).

This solution is similar to the one used on the Red Bull RB19 but also on the Mercedes W14 and the Haas VF-23. The fins improve the passage of airflow around the front tire.

Changes also concern the mounting of the mirrors (below), with now an arrangement identical to that ofAston Martinwhere the mirror housing is now flanked by a slat top and bottom.

According to the team, this improves the flow of air and its behavior in this area and limits the impact of turbulence created by the front tires. The wake created by the mirrors is a priori reduced. This should result in improved performance on pontoon surfaces.
