Instagram has been working on an option to allow users to make posts targeted only to the group of “close friends”. The novelty was discovered by the developer Alessandro Paluzzi.
According to a screenshot made available by him, these posts will remain hidden from all followers who are not part of the select group of close friends.
See below that there is an audience targeting option during the process of posting a photo or video.
Known to be a very popular feature in Stories, “close friends” ends up increasing public engagement on Instagram, since not everyone likes to expose their day to day life to a large audience.
Therefore, by releasing this type of sharing in the feed, Instagram also wants to encourage its users to post more content on the platform.
Instagram itself admits that the public has preferred Stories to share content. Maybe the new feature will change the scenario.
For now, the novelty is still in testing and has no forecast of being released widely. On another front, the social network recently released the option to add multiple links in the bio.
