Roller disco in the Autodrom, rave feeling in the wet room, epic closing sets on the beach floor: unforgettable experiences are only a few hundred meters apart at the Lighthouse in Poreč, Croatia, and then of course there is this unique opportunity to stay in a hotel or apartment on the site, what simply takes the pressure off a long festival day and opens more party rooms (new: camping and mobile homes).
A line-up always peppered with future headliners, where newcomers and audience favorites meet avant-garde, Susi Ondrusova has already summarized this year’s edition (May 25th to 29th) in a compact way.
FM4 am Lighthouse Festival 2023

Hennes Weiss came up with the Lighthouse Festival. We asked him four questions regarding his 10-year-old.
What was your favorite Lighthouse Festival?
Hennes Weiss: Year following year we have tried to do something better with creativity and great attention to detail. 2019 felt like the peak. We all know what came following and LHF 2022 was definitely the biggest challenge so far, when even three months before we didn’t really know if it might/may take place. I am all the more looking forward to a kind of new beginning with the anniversary edition.
Were there situations at the festival where you felt like giving up?
Hennes Weiss: When the box office crashed right following the first issue in 2013, where it rained almost the whole time. And when the server crashed due to overload at the start of online sales. After that, everything was always something to do and I have to admit: Troubleshooting can sometimes be fun 🙂
“I’m in my early 20s and would like to organize a festival like this at some point, where do I start?”
Hennes Weiss: Location, location, location – everything else comes followingwards! The best concept, the best friends, DJs, crews, the necessary entry fee don’t matter if there isn’t THE place that blows everyone away and enchants them from the first second! Only then does it make any sense to think regarding permits, residents and the necessary infrastructure. All of this is important, of course, but many make the mistake of underestimating the first step.
What are the approaches at the Lighthouse Festival in relation to green management?
Hennes Weiss: Our Landlord is strongly committed to sustainable tourism and provides most of the infrastructure needed to run a clean event. We try to avoid almost all the typical festival waste and also a large part of the materials needed to set up a temporary location. This allows us to address more specific issues such as own initiatives in food and beverage logistics and also minimizing transport emissions through on-site storage facilities. We organize group trips, not only for guests, but also for employees and artists. The list is long and we still have some goals for the future.
