Phoenix police say the 29-year-old was stabbed 15 times in the back and chest by her assailant. Lauren Heike would nevertheless have managed to flee her attacker before collapsing a little further and succumbing to her injuries.
Authorities believe she may have jumped over or through a barbed wire fence as she was being chased by her assailant.

Zion William Teasley, a 22-year-old man, was arrested and charged with the murder of the young woman. The victim would not know his alleged murderer.
The accused would have been filmed the day of the murder while following Lauren Heike. A surveillance camera also captured the young man as he returned near where the victim’s body was found.
Her DNA was found on a shoe that the young woman lost when she was trying to flee.
Zion William Teasley had been released from prison last November; he was sentenced to three years in prison following pleading guilty to charges of robbery with a lethal weapon, disorderly conduct and burglary in June 2020.
If convicted, the accused might face the death penalty.
