How to use a tennis ball to park your car properly?

Except that, most often, once you venture there, you find yourself in a dark and charged environment. In the distance, we can see an improbable little place looming: and there, between the poles and the other vehicles piled up, we have to redouble our efforts to try to park our car there with great skill. Yes, because all it takes is a simple clumsy maneuver to accidentally scratch it. What a pain ! And how frustrating and exhausting it is: you have to make multiple attempts to park it and then get it out of this confined space. Precisely, to make this experience less painful, the following solution is timely.

Adopt the trick of the tennis ball!

You never imagined that a simple tennis ball might get you out of this annoying situation, right? And yet, very often, the most ordinary objects can turn out to be very useful in unexpected contexts. Are you used to leaving your car in the garage, but it’s always an obstacle course to park it correctly? Rest assured, this solution will make things easier for you. Come on, let’s find out together how to apply this fun, but to say the least brilliant trick.

You will need:

• 2 medium sized stainless steel screw eyes (1/2 inch inner diameter and 5/8 inch overall length)
• Lightweight household rope or twine (long enough to reach from the ceiling of your garage to the floor)
• A tennis ball
• A stepladder
• scissors

Here are the steps to follow:

1. Park your vehicle in the garage in the appropriate place. Take note of the approximate location of the windshield relative to the rest of the garage. To remember this, create a visual marker. Then, drive the car out as usual.
2. Turn a screw eyelet in the ceiling directly above the windshield, where you park the car, to hang the tennis ball on (where the marker mark is).
3. Thread one end of the string through the eye (loop) of the hanging head screw eyelet. Tie it securely. Let the rest of the string hang freely on the floor.
4. Once you park the car in this location, do not drive and make sure the string falls freely on the driver’s side windshield.
5. Then screw the other eyelet into the tennis ball, giving it a good push if needed. Then, thread the free end of the string through the eyelet of the tennis ball. In one hand hold the end of the string and in the other hand slide the ball up the string until it touches the windshield when hanging straight (ideally near the center of the driver’s side windshield). To simplify your work, use the stepladder.
6. Now tie the string around the eyelet of the ball and cut off the remaining end so the ball can hang freely.

From there, you will have a valuable indicator: as soon as you want to park the car, do not complicate your existence any longer, move forward quietly until the ball hits your windshield. Hung from the string on the ceiling, this ball will serve as a guide and visual marker to know when you have to stop the vehicle. Over time, you will be able to acquire certain reflexes: you will better judge the depth of the parking lot, by touching the ball. Don’t worry, as it is quite soft, it won’t damage your car.

If you want to have better visibility, it is better to opt for a new yellow ball. If it’s dirty or discolored, if it’s dark around you, it won’t be very practical. If you wish, you can also replace the rope with a weighted fishing line. The effect will be the same with just a slightly different approach.
