It’s no secret that The Lord of the Rings trilogy was hugely successful. Not only are the films hailed by many as the best adaptations ever, but they were box office hits upon release, grossing nearly $3 billion in total.
That’s how much money Orlando Bloom received for Lord of the Rings
However, how much of this money the actual actors got to see is not really known. At least now we know how much money Orlando Bloom made from his role as Legolas in the three films. Bloom recently appeared on the Howard Stern Show, where he revealed his salary with a smile on his face. Since Bloom was still relatively unknown at the time, he earned a combined total of $175,000 from all three films. In today’s world, that’s regarding $300,000.
In total, it probably took regarding 1.5 years to shoot the films. For an actor who is still unknown, this sum is not bad at all. Additionally, Bloom himself stated that the films helped launch his career. After the trilogy, the actor took on roles in Pirates of the Caribbean, Kingdom of Heaven, Troy, and later donned his Legolas costume once more for The Hobbit films.
Additionally, Bloom explained that he actually aimed for the role of Faramir. Ultimately, however, this was awarded to David Wenham. Given how the actor’s career progressed following his appearance in Lord of the Rings, it probably doesn’t matter that Bloom didn’t land his dream role following all.
