An iPhone dropped from a height of more than 4.200 metros (14,000 feet to be exact) and, believe me, it survived! the skydiver Hatton Smith was the victim of that episode, who discovered when jumping out of a plane that his device was loose in his pants pocket.

In a video posted on TikTok, you can see the moment Smith’s iPhone flies out of his back pocket and “disappears into thin air”. Despite having fallen to the ground at an estimated speed of 160km/hwhen found, the iPhone worked perfectly.

In the comments section, Smith “thanked” the brand’s cover Catalyst — which he believes was a key factor in his iPhone remaining functional. Still, the fact that the device landed in an area of grass and a little muddy may also have contributed to this.

It is worth remembering that cases like this are not entirely atypical. In November 2021, for example, an iPhone X survived intact following falling from a plane in the US. The device, which belonged to the pilot, fell from a height of approximately 300 meters during takeoff. Fortunately, when found the device was without any scratches and worked in perfect condition.

Even so, it is impressive the height from which the skydiver’s iPhone fell and the state in which it was found. ????
