Intersport takes over 72 Go Sport stores, but 9 other stores are closing their doors for good.
Go Sport integrates the Intersport house. In its takeover plan, Intersport has pledged to take over 72 Go Sport stores, but 9 other stores are not taken over and are closing their doors permanently, learned BFM Business. These stores, which have already lowered the curtain, are mainly located in shopping centers or business areas in the west and south-east of France.
The list of Go Sport stores that are permanently closed:
- Lann Sevelin activity zone, at Lancaster (Morbihan)
- Casino K’Store commercial gallery, at Grenoble (Isere)
- Le Mans Nord business park, at La Chapelle-Saint-Aubin (Sarthe)
- Givors 2 Valleys shopping center, Givors (Rhône),
- Bourse shopping center at Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhone)
- Rising Sun Shopping Center, Montelimar (Drome)
- Saint-Sever shopping mall, in Rouen (Seine-Maritime)
- Center Deux shopping center Saint Etienne (Loire)
- Espace de la Motte, at Vesoul (Haute-Saone)
Reclassification of employees
113 employees on permanent contracts are affected by these closures, but they can request priority reclassification within the Intersport group if they wish. The union-negotiated PES also provides funding for retraining projects. A monitoring committee will be set up, and will include former elected Go Sport union members, to monitor the smooth running of internal and external reclassifications.
In addition, 50 Go Sport stores out of the 72 taken over are preparing to switch to the Intersport brand, said the boss of Intersport France, Jacky Rihouet, last Friday on the set of BFM Business.
These closures or passages under the Intersport brand nevertheless only involve integrated stores, that is to say those which depend directly on the former Go Sport France. Affiliated stores in France (around 30 under the Go Sport brand and around 40 under the Endurance Shop brand), as well as franchise stores abroad, remain autonomous.
