The school league team from Hermann Wielandner Sporthauptschule secured the crown in Pongau school football once morest SMS Altenmarkt.
After the young soccer talents from the Hermann Wielandner Sport Mittelschule (SMS) Bischofshofen secured first place in the regular season, just ahead of Altenmarkt, the final of the student league district championships was once more up once morest the rivals from Ennspongau for the district crown.
In a varied first leg, the Bischofshofeners managed to equalize twice following falling behind in Altenmarkt and so the Bischofshofen team went home with a 2:2 score.
Gripping decision game
A week later, the decision game followed. The Hermann Wielandner SMS team showed their ambitions for the title right from the start on their home artificial turf pitch. The home team dominated, but the Altenmarkter defense was compact. Nevertheless, following a strong individual action and a well-delivered header, the home side found their way to success twice in front of the goal in the first half. Half-time score 2:0.
After the break, the Ennspongau tried to turn everything around once more, risked more and managed the 2:1 connection hit with a strong pressing. But the joy didn’t last long. However, the Ennspongau continued to play unimpressed and were able to equalize following two quick hits. The home team then strengthened their defense once more. Stefan Fleissner made it 4:3 following a great pass and a little later the young striker was brought down in the penalty area. Luis Strobl converted the penalty ice cold and put Bischofshofen on the road to victory. The subsequent 6:3 brought the final decision and the district championship title for the Bischofshofen students.
