FRANKFURT, May 3 (Archyde.com) – Lufthansa said on Wednesday it expects strong travel demand this summer to help it meet its full-year targets.

“The continued strong demand gives us confidence for the coming months,” chief financial officer Remco Steenbergen said on Wednesday.

The German airline said it continues to expect a significant year-on-year improvement in adjusted earnings before interest and tax (Ebit) for the full year 2023.

Lufthansa reported an adjusted underlying operating loss (Ebit) of 273 million euros in the first quarter, down from a loss of 577 million euros in the previous year. A consensus of analysts expected an average decline of 279 million.

Revenue increased by 40% to 7.02 billion euros for the quarter ending at the end of March. However, this figure remains below the consensus at 7.57 billion euros. (Report Maria Sheahan, French version Dina Kartit, edited by Kate Entringer)
