Following its slow expansion around the world, the Apple Pay arrived today at Guatemala it’s at The Savior. The information was confirmed by Promerica and BAC Credomatic banks, as well as by Apple, which included Central American countries in the list of those that have the service.
From now on, customers of these financial institutions will be able to add credit or debit cards to the brands Visa e Mastercard to be used in Apple’s approximation payments service. There is still no information on when other flags will gain platform support.
Less than a month ago, a Guatemalan user questioned the arrival date of Apple Pay in the country. According to him, the banks that supported the service in Costa Rica, where it arrived in 2021, had published instructions on how to add the cards to the Wallet app (Wallet), but did not indicate a release date.
The last news we had from Apple Pay was last March, when the service landed in South Korea. Even eight years following its launch in the United States, it was restricted to Hyundai Card customers, as other card operators did not sign up to participate.
Still, many question why Apple Pay hasn’t made its way to countries like Chile and India, which, according to the UN, now has the largest nation in the world. It remains to be hoped (and hoped) that, over time, more people will have access to Apple’s payment system.
For now, lucky are our fellow Guatemalans and Salvadorans! ????????????????
