Cancer: $2 million to make chemo more effective and less painful

The Pharma “in silica” laboratories announced on Tuesday $2 million in funding to develop a nanomedicine capable of providing patients suffering from certain solid cancers with less painful and more effective chemotherapy.

In addition to six new individual shareholders who are entering the capital of the Quebec biotech, the CAQ government has invested $1 million in the SME for which Investissement Québec acts as agent.

According to the pharmaceutical, the funds will be used for the preclinical study of optimized paclitaxel – a molecule produced by fungi and used in chemotherapy -, as well as requests for authorization of a multicenter clinical study in Canada and the United States. in patients with advanced non-small cell bronchitis cancer.

“Investissement Québec is proud to support promising young companies, such as Pharma “in silica”, which are part of key sectors of our economy and which contribute to strengthening Québec’s expertise”, indicated Guy LeBlanc, CEO of Investment Quebec.
