Tragedy. The renowned journalist Luis Miranda Rodríguez died following the boat in which he was a crew member capsized off the island of El Frontón, in Callao. Rescue personnel arrived at the scene and were able to rescue the occupants of the boat.
Miranda was going along with 19 other people in a boat that would have set sail irregularly in order to offer a tourist service. The boat left La Punta during the followingnoon of this Monday, May 1, but it capsized due to the strong waves at approximately 1:30 pm, when it was already returning to the mainland.
The National Police is investigating whether the affected vessel had all the necessary permits to set sail from the first port. The journalist, chronicler and poet worked for more than two decades in the Cuarto Poder program and was a contributor to Somos magazine.
