This Monday, May 1, 2023, as the social movement once morest pension reform redoubles in intensity in the four corners of France, Emmanuel Macron took to his social networks to share a message of thanks. “You get up early to feed us. You promote the know-how of our territories. You contribute to our sovereignty. On this May Day, to all the workers, thank you”, wrote the President of the Republic under a photo taken at the Élysée Palace. A post that sparked strong reactions.
Merouan Bounekraf, cook and television host revealed in the 10th season of Top Chef, was particularly upset. Neither one nor two, so he took advantage of this stretched pole to challenge the husband of Brigitte Macron. “Maybe doing something for our 11k bills would be better than a picture, wouldn’t it?”he dared to ask.

Internet users angry
Visibly very angry, many Internet users pointed to Emmanuel Macron’s message on this significant date. “How can we write this message…! It is the people who pay in taxes for your breakfasts, your lunches and your dinners, not to mention all your travels which make us pay even more taxes. I am tired , exhausted by so much hypocrisy and indecency on the part of this government. People are sad and no longer have the same joie de vivre since the Covid, the reform was too much. We might wait…!”
Or : “How dare you taunt the workers on such an important day, it’s indecent”, “Thank you Mr. President for sending us this message of benevolence and encouragement which unfortunately smacks of hypocrisy. Once once more by your message, you despise us, we the little people who contribute to your food and this for a pittance. So today is the workers’ day, but not yours. But as you have told us well specified without us, you are nothing!”, “I find the Head of State’s message inappropriate!”, might we read in the comments. A bad buzz…
