Despite the indication of the official Jordanian statements that the meeting comes within the context of the Jordanian initiative, follow-up sources confirmed to Al-Watan that the meeting is for the committee emanating from the consultative meeting of the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Egypt, Jordan and Iraq that was held in Jeddah, and its importance lies in the fact that it “will take place.” In the presence of Syria, ways to strengthen joint Arab action and intensify contacts regarding Syria’s return to the Arab League will be discussed.

President Bashar al-Assad received Ibn Farhan and discussed with him the relations between the two countries and other political, Arab and international files. Bilateral cooperation between the two countries was present in the talks in the interest of the two countries and the two peoples.

Ibn Farhan’s visit to Damascus was preceded by a visit that Al-Miqdad made to Saudi Arabia on the 12th of the month, and before that Egypt on the first of last month, and he later visited Algeria on the 15th of April and Tunisia on the 18th of it.
