Noise, music and the presence of other patrons can make a simple visit to the restaurant unsettling for many people with autism.

Since the beginning of April, five St-Hubert rotisseries have been welcoming this clientele in an adapted environment.

“The St-Hubert Group, in collaboration with the Autistic and Major Foundation and the St-Hubert Foundation, has put forward an inclusion project aimed at autistic customers, to come and eat in our branches,” explained to TVA. News the Director of Human Resources of the Martin Group, Clara Martin.

“We came to make changes in relation to the brightness. So, we really lowered the lights. Also for the flow of the music, we went down it. We selected certain tables in the dining room to be sure that it is as quiet as possible, the least busy, then we also have a sensory kit, ”she added.

The initiative, which aims to optimize the customer experience, is supported by the À Pas de Géant organization.

“It’s also good to see that it’s not just with hiring and that there are companies like St-Hubert that are ready to have a more 360 angle, which also allows for a offer for autistic clients and their families,” says Giant Steps project manager Michael Huot.
