According to data from the Canada Mortgage Corporation, it is increasingly difficult to find (affordable) housing in Montreal.

The Company also anticipates another increase in rental prices in the near future due to the small number of units available.
The vacancy rate has continued to decline over the past few years. It reaches 1.6% in 2023, while it was almost double (3%) in 2021.
The trend is for modest, small and inexpensive housing in Greater Montreal this year, in the current inflationary context.
At least that’s what the founder of the loge.moi application, Grégoire Gervais-Vachon, reports.
Annick Tremblay, a landlord in Rosemont, affirms that tenants who pay a favorable price no longer dare to leave their accommodation for fear of losing a preferential rate, which confirms the trend.
“People, when they have cheap accommodation, they don’t move,” she says.
